Local distributors of portable hard drive Western Digital announced
the availability of My Book World edition network hard drives that can
store up to 2 terabytes of data from multiple computers on a home
network. This storage solution practically backs up the entire data
files of an entire tech savvy household.
Based on the official product factsheet, “the newly redesigned My Book
World edition network storage drive, simplifies the critical but
tedious task of backing up files. It is designed for consumers who
have multiple computers on a home network.†Most households have a
desktop for common use and notebooks for individual or personal use of
family members.
My Book World edition is available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, suitable
for storing massive video and audio collection, important work and
school files, reference materials and almost every data and
information stored in desktops and laptops within a household.
Among the digital media formats commonly stored in a family desktop
are photos, music, videos and important work and academic related
files of family members.
With this new storage product, WD aims to address the “sporadic
process of backing up of files that includes copying to CDs and DVDs
and USB thumb drives.†“My Book World Edition assures convenient
safekeeping of personal files and media collections stored around the
home. These network drives are designed to automate and simplify the
backup chore.â€
To use the hard disk drive in a household with network PCs, just plug
the My Book World edition into a network router and customize the
controls for automatic storage back up from multiple PCs or Mac
computers. Any changes to the files on these computers are
automatically and continuously backed up to the drive.
The main feature of this network storage device includes true
plug-and-play installation, automatic backup capability and familiar
file organization.

Book World edition but in the U.S. market, the SRP of the 1TB model is
229.99 USD (roughly Php14,999) while the 2TB costs 449.99 USD
